New figures released by the National Statistics Institute have shown a year on year increase in sales of property in Spain of just under 17%. In total, 31,925 property sales took place in March, representing the second consecutive month of positive figures following February's figure of 15.8%.
Resale properties represented the majority of the sales, totalling 25,765 transactions for the period. This represented a year on year increase of 24.2% when compared with sales data from 2015. There was however less positive news for the off-plan and new build sector, which saw a decline of 6.6% in comparison with the previous years figures.
Regional data showed that the majority of sales where in the Andalucia region, which saw 6,299 property sales in March. Other regions which saw strong sales included Catalonia, Madrid and Valencia.
